The ULEZ covers all 32 London boroughs and the City of London, and charges £12.50 a day for a vehicle that does not meet the emissions standard. It is separate from the Congestion Charge, and separate again from the older LEZ for lorries.
Checked against the operating authority's own published figures on 28 September 2026.
Yes — £12.50 a day, if the car does not meet the emissions standard.
| Vehicle | Charge | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cars | £12.50 a day | |
| Motorcycles, mopeds and motor tricycles | £12.50 a day | |
| Vans and specialist vehicles up to 3.5t | £12.50 a day | |
| Minibuses up to 5t | £12.50 a day | |
| Lorries, heavy vans and buses over 3.5t / 5t | Not charged | No ULEZ charge — the separate London LEZ applies instead |
We never take your payment. The charge is paid to the authority at the standard price — Pay on the TfL website. CAZ Tracker only reminds you, and adds nothing to the price.
Charges only ever apply to vehicles that miss the emissions standard. Petrol cars, vans and minibuses need Euro 4; diesels need Euro 6; motorcycles, mopeds and tricycles need Euro 3. Electric vehicles are not charged.

All 32 London boroughs and the City of London. The M25 itself is not in the zone, so you can use the motorway without paying.
Hours: 24 hours a day, every day of the year except Christmas Day. The charging day runs midnight to midnight.
Paying: From 3 days before your journey to midnight on the third day after it. Auto Pay charges your card automatically, with no set-up fee, which is the simplest way not to forget.
Penalty: £180, reduced to £90 if you pay within 14 days. A separate penalty can be issued for every charging day you miss.

Exemptions are granted by the authority, not by us, and most need applying for before you travel.
£12.50 a day for a non-compliant car, motorcycle, van or minibus, anywhere in Greater London. Lorries and buses over 3.5 tonnes pay nothing to the ULEZ but fall under the separate London LEZ instead.
No. They are separate charges and you can owe both on the same day. The Congestion Charge covers a small central area during set hours and applies almost regardless of emissions; the ULEZ covers all of Greater London around the clock and depends entirely on emissions.
£180, halved to £90 if paid within 14 days, and one can be issued for each day you failed to pay.
CAZ Tracker watches for the moment you cross into a zone and reminds you, with a link straight to the official payment page. It is a reminder, not a guarantee — read when it won't alert you before relying on it.
