Bradford charges taxis, vans, minibuses, lorries, buses and coaches that do not meet the emissions standard — never a private car or a motorbike. It has run since 26 September 2022, and unlike Birmingham the ring road is inside the zone.
Checked against the operating authority's own published figures on 28 September 2026.
No. Bradford is a Class C zone, so cars and motorbikes are not charged, even when used for work.
| Vehicle | Charge | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Private cars | Not charged | Not charged |
| Motorbikes | Not charged | Not charged |
| Hackney carriages and private hire vehicles | £7 a day | |
| Private hire minibuses (5–8 seats) | £7 a day | |
| Minibuses | £9 a day | |
| Vans and LGVs, including car-derived vans | £9 a day | |
| Campervans and motorhomes up to 3.5t | £9 a day | |
| Campervans and motorhomes over 3.5t | £50 a day | |
| HGVs, buses and coaches | £50 a day |
We never take your payment. The charge is paid to the authority at the standard price — Pay on GOV.UK. CAZ Tracker only reminds you, and adds nothing to the price.
Charges only ever apply to vehicles that miss the emissions standard. Broadly a Euro 6 diesel or a Euro 4 petrol is not charged; HGVs, buses and coaches need Euro 6 diesel. Electric vehicles are never charged. Any non-compliant vehicle is charged whether it is used privately or for business.
Not sure which side of the line your vehicle falls? Check the registration here and we will show every zone at once, or use the government's own checker.
Everything inside — and including — the Bradford outer ring road, extending along the Aire valley through Manningham Lane, Bradford Road and Canal Road to take in Shipley and Saltaire. Note the ring road itself is in the zone, so there is no free way round it.
Hours: GOV.UK states that English zones operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Bradford Council does not state hours on its own pages.
Paying: Up to 6 days before you drive in the zone, on the day itself, or up to 6 days after.
Penalty: £120, reduced to £60 if you pay within 14 days, and the daily charge is still owed on top. After 28 days it rises by 50%, and the council pursues it through the courts.

Exemptions are granted by the authority, not by us, and most need applying for before you travel.

Yes. Unlike Birmingham, where the ring road is outside the zone, Bradford's outer ring road is inside it, so there is no free route around the zone.
£7 a day for a non-compliant taxi or private hire vehicle, £9 for a van, minibus or smaller motorhome, and £50 for an HGV, bus, coach or motorhome over 3.5 tonnes.
CAZ Tracker watches for the moment you cross into a zone and reminds you, with a link straight to the official payment page. It is a reminder, not a guarantee — read when it won't alert you before relying on it.
